creative currency
At BOLD, we recognise the challenges artists face in sustaining their careers, especially amid funding cuts. To support one another, we’re introducing Creative Currency—a unique opportunity to exchange your skills for space at BOLD Elephant.
How It Works:
Need Space? Let us know how long you require it.
Offer Your Skills: In return, provide services equivalent to the time you need. This could include:
Organising costume cupboards
Assisting with funding applications
Hosting events
Cleaning, painting and maintenance
Running workshops
How it works:
Earn £25/hour: For every hour you contribute, receive £25 worth of rehearsal space.
For example helping us for a full day of 8 hours equals £200 in creative currency. This is 2 days rehearsal space in the Undercroft.
Complete 10 hours and enjoy a 25% discount on the cost of future creative currency.

“As a theatre maker, director and actor trying to make art in London, I feel so lucky that somewhere quite as special as BOLD exists. Thanks largely to BOLD’s Creative Currency, our company were able to put on a fringe show so painlessly - without the extortionate costs and unreliability of other London rehearsal spaces. With BOLD’s help, finding somewhere practical to run workshops and rehearsals is a piece of cake. On top of all that, keeping our side of the Creative Currency bargain was actually an unexpected joy - the odd jobs we were asked to help with were hugely satisfying to do - and all the while we were building connections with other wonderful creative people and contributing to the supportive place and community that BOLD is. Thank you, BOLD!”
“BOLD has been my second home since I finished drama school. It’s so unusual and incredible as an early-career artist to have SPACE. I can’t imagine my life in London without BOLD! Acting can be a really lonely profession - perhaps particularly in early-career when most of our time and energy goes towards making rent...its easy not to feel like an actor at all. So having an affordable space where we can come and practice together has been the most amazing gift! A lifeline.”
